Are Bandsaws Safe to Use

Generally, a bandsaw is safer to use than a table saw – when using a bandsaw, the blade is travelling down towards the table. This means the cutting force is pressing down, rather than towards the operator, as with a table saw.

One of the most common accidents with wood cutting machines is kickback (where the wood is thrown from the machine into the operator) and this is less common with bandsaws. Your decision on purchasing a bandsaw or a table saw will ultimately come down to the type of work you will be doing.
